Bangkok! – By Anna

We decided that we were going to have a chilled day in Bangkok. We didn’t get back to our hotel until gone 3am the previous night and Leigh was pretty drunk. Plus we’d not had a lie in for two weeks so felt like we deserved a day off. We made it down to breakfast, but then went back to bed. With a days access to internet we caught up on emails, and updated some of the blog.

At about 1pm we ventured out to take in a few of the sights Bangkok has to offer. We walked down to the river and followed it along through local markets to the reclining Buddha. This was the only thing I had been told was worth seeing and it was quite a sight. The Buddha is gold plated and 46 meters long / 15 meters high.

After this we wandered further along the river, past the royal palace and back towards the Khao San part of town where we had lunch. We should have known better and the food was pretty average. We both felt pretty tired so headed back to hotel for an early night. We needed it and also as we had an early pick up the next morning.

Like most items this stunning duck based lampshade was for sale in out hotel room –L:

Another sunset from our window! So roughly the same amount of sunsets as hot dinners on this holiday - L:

I’d just like to add that Bangkok was not very charming and was glad when we got out of there.  I never need to come back here again, just like the other large Asian cities we have visited (Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh) – L.
